Discussing Crowdsourcing in the Guardian Here's my piece in the U.K.'s Guardian about crowdsourced journalism. I think the Guardian's Katine Web site has not just transcended journalism, but also taken a great leap forward in the case of crowdsourcing, and it was a great opportunity to write for the site.

The Guardian's work in the Ugandan village of Katine is weaving together citizen journalism (Katine residents make their voices heard on video clips on the site), crowdsourcing (with its global reach of 15 million readers, the Guardian Web site is drawing on expertise from citizens in various areas of development) to directly address the issues, in addition to finding a forum for debate and discussion. I say "directly address" because the paper is involved in a three year development project in Katine with the Africa based NGO Amref and Barclays bank.

It's tempting to fantasize about just where crowdsourcing is headed...I for one, can only see benefits.  ¶ 6:32 AM
